Northern Log & Timber is a family business that originated in the Yukon Territory in April 1952 by Al Morgan. The family has been logging, saw milling and building homes ever since. We have built in excess of 2800 homes from Alaska to Mexico and Chile, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Germany, and Russia.

Today we have grown to include a management team that has over 100 years of combined experience in all aspects of log home design and construction. We produce machined log homes, handcrafted log homes, custom-cut timbers and have in-house drafting and design, we truly are the one stop for your log home and associated product requirements.

Northern Log & Timbers’ machined log design is a unique principle that ensures a quality log with a minimum of checks. This has been achieved by obtaining a log with a large enough diameter that all the exterior growth or sap ring is removed before the log core is dried and machined shaped to a uniform size for ease of construction. Tests show that N.L.T. homes are 25 to 30% cheaper to heat than conventional frame construction.

Northern Log & Timbers’ handcrafted log homes use hand peeled spruce logs. We use Swedish cope lateral grooves and shrink to fit saddle notch joinery. Kerf cuts in the logs help to minimize check (splitting).

Northern Log & Timber also produces custom timbers. We cut timbers up to 24” x 24” and up to 40’ in length. Species available are Douglas fir, pine, spruce and cedar. Also in our product line: 1x4 and 1x6 v-joint, 1x4 and 1x6 flooring, 2x6 T&G decking, timbers, custom stairs, railings and trusses.
